Project Fitness GB

” Who are Project Fitness GB ”

Sean Hibbert – Head Coach.

Sean is Ex Military with a tour of Afghanistan and 12 year’s military experience to his name. It was after his tour of Afghanistan that Sean was found to have mild PTSD and anxiety. Sean not to be outdone started a new fitness journey which led him to CrossFit.
Sean soon realised the benefits of fitness for a healthy mind and retrained while still serving in the Army. After spending 6 year’s as a Physical Training Instructor he was then medically discharged. That led Sean to go back into education achieving his Level 3 GP exercise referral – Level 4 Back pain specialist – Level 1 in Nutrition.
Sean has since turned that passion into a new business but more importantly to help other’s. Not just physically but mentally too.

That is Sean’s background…

From here I ask Sean his plan’s for the future, what drives him onwards, also how he’s enjoying being a dad?

Future…

Before further restrictions were put in place regards Covid 19 I managed to grab some quality time with Sean, Lucy and their beautiful baby daughter Isla. I asked them how they coped with opening a new business in January, only month’s before a National Lockdown?!

Sean and Lucy had only recently moved into their family home 2 weeks before opening the gym too. It was stressful they both said so and a major worry!! One thing I’ve found out about Sean as a Coach and as a person he’s quick to adapt to change. Something that I’ve no doubt stems from his Military career.
During very uncertain times for many Fitness Businesses in the UK and Worldwide Sean & Lucy found online session’s as their lifeline. Building up new member’s slowly and surely they began to see some real positives from CV19. Sean openly told me that Lucy and himself had completely changed their outlook on the way forward for Project Fitness GB.
Sean’s favourite thing about the gym is the Community, seeing everyone help each other. Also seeing individuals achieve their goal’s or helping each other overcome mental barriers too. You can see on both Sean & Lucy’s face just how much that means to them both.
What they’ve created is a Community in Lucy and Sean’s words a family! One of the very first founding members is Ruth Jackson. Her own transformation story is an inspiring and remarkable one, not just physically but mentally too as Ruth told me! I will cover that in a separate blog after this one.

Being a Dad…

Best thing that’s ever happened to me, it’s made me a better person, more understanding, made me realise what is really is important in life and made me thankful for everything I have in life.
Isla is the best part of me…
It’s been a real pleasure covering Project Fitness GB in this blog. As someone who is passionate about the impact of fitness on people’s mental health. I wish them every success in helping people be a better version of themselves.
Sean Lucy and Isla thank you for your time.

I watched Sean take on the Assault Bike Test for 30 mins – 569 cals completed. He then kindly asked me to accept the test so I kindly accepted his offer.
Ruth told me that Sean leads by example!
